Common questions
Before you drive out.
Do you buy insulated wire, or does it have to be stripped?
We buy it insulated — you don’t have to strip it. We grade by copper recovery, so bring it as it comes off the job. If you do strip, bright copper grades higher.
How is non-ferrous graded?
In the open, in front of you, by graders who have been doing it for decades. You see the grade and the weight before you’re paid.
Can I set up regular pickups for my shop?
Yes. A trade account gives you a direct line, consistent grading and scheduled pickups. [minimums & terms — confirm]
I have both copper and steel — where do I go?
Non-ferrous comes to Kinkel Street; heavy ferrous goes to DPR Scrap Metal at 125 Hopper St. Call either number and we’ll sort out the right gate for your load.
Call the yard.
Tell us what you have and where it is. We’ll tell you what it’s worth and which gate to use.
