Property maintenance and turnovers generate metal in every form — old appliances, water heaters, radiators, fixtures, wire, and the mixed metal that comes out of a cleanout. It splits between two yards in Westbury, minutes apart.
Appliances, steel, and iron are ferrous and go to DPR Scrap Metal at 125 Hopper St. Copper, brass, aluminum, and wire are non-ferrous and go to Deer Park Recycling at 54 Kinkel St.
Cleanouts are rarely sorted, and that's fine — pull the obvious copper and brass aside, and the rest sorts out at the scale. Every load is weighed and graded in front of you, honest weights.
Managing multiple buildings? Pickups are available so a full cleanout doesn't have to ride around in the truck, and trade accounts are open to property managers and maintenance crews across Long Island and the five boroughs.
Appliances and steel: DPR Scrap Metal, (516) 280-9353. Copper and brass: Deer Park Recycling, (516) 333-6145. Mixed load or unsure? Call either yard or send a photo before you load.
